How do i make this less painfull?

last night i had to take my dad to the hospital due to acute abdominal pain, later on we found out that his pancreas was inflamed. they discharged him and now he is at home but is still in a lot of pain. is there anything i can do to help ease the pain? like cushion certain areas of the body, make him lay on one side? any kind of food that will help? please if you have any suggestions/experience let me know
