Nice guys do not finish last?

I am the nicest nice guy on the entire planet. I've just turned 16 years old. 7 months ago I met the most amazing girl in the world, we're in love and going to spend our lives together. But thanks to the mountain of bullshit about 'NICE GUYS FINISH LAST' on the internet, I became very insecure, constantly seeking her compliments and love, and whenever I didn't get it, I would be annoyed with her and become depressed. This all culminated a couple of days ago when I deliberately took an overdose of my acne medication in desperation and ended up in A+E in a seriously bad way. Thankfully, there is no long term damage done. But the insecurity and feeling of worthlessness these articles placed in me almost split us up, I would have lost the love of my life. I am very lucky we're still together. She loves me for being nice, not for being 'mean' or a 'bad boy', and I am happy being nice. I'm going to be nice all my life and we're going to be happy together. Stop writing bullshit about nice guys finishing last. It's not true and it makes people feel worthless.
