I need help convincing my parents to let me go to Japan as an exchange student or a summer program...?
I already presented the idea to my mom, she said she would rather have me go in college! (Hey, if that's the best I can get YAY!) She said she's heard too many bad stories, and that if I went in like...10th grade or 12th grade I might not get back into my school (it's a private school) and that colleges might not accept the whole shabang. I also presented the summer program thing as an exchanger, I really don't want to do that, but she said that that was fine. She understands that I want to make my career in JP someday, so she said college would be better-in some ways I can put myself in her shoes and if my kid wanted to leave for a year to JP i'd be a little wary too...-that sounds like a good idea...What do you think? Also, my step-dad...I really don't think he cares...like, he's not against it, but not for it. Also another difficulty is that both sides of my family (mom and real dad) don't like Japanese people because of WWII...I confronted my mom about and she said they all hate us...(Let's just say I LOVE JP, and we ended up having a HUMONGOUS fight; yelling, her cussing...not a good mixture. My grandfather on my dad's side doesn't like Japanese either because he served in WWII. I REALLY hate how my family ridicules me about it, like they're ashamed about it or something...Anyway, could anyone also help me figure out how to convince them, and how to get the money to go...I had goal of $3,857.00 every year, but that was in January and so far I have only $Seven or Eight hundred and something...(I've saved up since I was like 5...not for this...College actually!)
